Aston Taekwon-Do (ATKD) is run by Chief Instructor Harry Limer 4th Dan Black Belt, where we teach the Chang Hon system of traditional ITF Taekwon-Do as founded by General Choi Hong Hi.
Harry is a professional Taekwon-Do instructor who began training in Taekwon-Do in 1985. During that time Harry has trained with many different Taekwon-Do Organisations and various martial arts Masters.
Harry established ATKD as part of the services offered by the Aston Project, a Gloucestershire Constabulary initiative to work with local children and families.
ATKD provides students with many benefits that help the individual lead a healthier lifestyle whilst achieving an interest, maintaining a focus and developing additional life skills. Instead of potentially hanging around the streets causing mischief through boredom that may lead to anti social behaviour. For more information visit The Aston Project.
Aston Taekwon-Do is fully licensed and insured to teach and instruct Taekwon-Do. Harry is registered with the NAKMAS National Governing Body and is certified on the Nakmas National Register of Qualified Black Belts as 4th Dan Taekwon-Do. As you would expect Harry is an accredited first aider and has the necessary government clearance (DBS) to work with children and vulnerable people.
Aston Taekwon-Do is evolving and now looking to include families from the local community to provide a safe learning environment where the whole family can spend time together and benefit from what Aston Taekwon-Do has to offer.
Recently the achievement of The Aston Project was acknowledged when we received a National Award presented by HRH The Princess Royal, highlighting the good work the Aston Project has done in working with young people from the local community of Cheltenham.
Previously Aston Taekwon-Do was acknowledged by the UK Minister of State for Crime Reduction & Anti Social Behaviour, Mr Jeremy Browne, who visited the ATKD. It is hoped that the government will adopt this approach nationally rolling out similar projects across the country.
